About

April (she/her)

April is a Postpartum Doula serving Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, & Fairfield counties. Her passion for postpartum work began after the birth of her son in 2018, where she soon recognized the numerous challenges, questions, & lack of support that new parents encounter. It truly does “take a village”, yet we struggle to access a village in a society who’s systems are more individualistic than collective.

When the pandemic hit, April witnessed how these already limited villages were now inaccessible, as well as the growing disparities within the maternal/social healthcare systems. Her calling for postpartum work grew louder, and she went on to complete her DONA Postpartum Doula training in 2020.

Using a calm & compassionate approach, April draws on her educational background in psychology, music therapy, & experience coaching youth soccer to collaborate with & empower families during their fourth trimester transitions.

In her spare time, April referees/coaches & plays soccer, piano, & enjoys spending time outside working on her gardening skills.

Here’s what some families have to say about their experience with April:

  • "Having April help with our newborn daughter made all the difference for us. I was able to get precious sleep while knowing the baby was in safe hands. I would even hear her talking to my daughter and having little conversations, treating her so kindly and like a real little person. Folded laundry and clean dishes were an added bonus. Thank you so much for all the help you've given our family!"

  • "April is an invaluable resource for the entire family. She's a baby whisperer. I always felt confident when my son was in her care, and he always seemed particularly calm and content in her presence. What's more, she joyfully celebrated his development alongside us, delighting in him, making a stressful time feel more meaningful and bright. She made the household run more smoothly, tidying up after us and performing household tasks like baby laundry and preparing/washing bottles. She has a knack for effortlessly eliminating chaos and leaving serenity in her wake. She also empowered my husband and I as we transitioned into parenthood. She supported me during a difficult recovery, cooking nourishing food and helping me process my emotions every step of the way. She taught us the baby basics like diapering, bathing, and swaddling, alongside offering practical non-judgmental breastfeeding and bottle feeding support. We always looked forward to her arrival each day and she left us feeling more confident than before whenever she departed. I don't want to imagine this major life transformation without her. She helped us become a family, and if we ever decide to have another child, she will undoubtedly be our first call. I cannot recommend her highly enough."

  • "I cannot shout my praise for April Colucci loudly enough! She stayed with us the first night we brought our daughter home from the hospital and since then, she's become family. April is deeply kind, hugely attentive, a wonderful listener and a gentle guide. Her presence in those early days and weeks - when everything is new and tender and often awkward - was such a grounding force. I felt such peace and safety and comfort knowing that she was caring for my daughter (and for me and my husband) overnight. If we have another baby, April will be the FIRST call we make - no joke! For anyone seeking postpartum Doula care, I cannot recommend her enough."
